Volkshilfe is a non-profit, non-partisan and non-denominational welfare organization.

As a social service provider, we support people in need. As a social movement, we raise our voice for the disadvantaged. We contribute expert knowledge and actively participate in social development.

Founded in 1947, the focus of work at Volkshilfe ranges from the areas of care and support, poverty reduction, labor market policy, childcare, work for the disabled and humanitarian aid in the event of a disaster at home and abroad, through to asylum and migration work.

The heart of Volkshilfe are the approximately 34,000 full-time and voluntary employees and members who work together – with the goal of a solidary, just world in which people are the focus. Volkshilfe is recruiting helpers and activists, donors and sponsors to implement this vision.

• Social Movement and Volunteering

With its members, donors, honorary and full-time employees and officials, Volkshilfe is part of civil society. It sees itself as representing the interests of all those people who do not have a lobby: people who suffer from poverty, are unemployed or in need of care, are disabled or are otherwise disadvantaged.

Volkshilfe is a professional service provider in the social, educational and health sectors. In our not-for-profit social institutions, the interests of the people to be looked after are the focus. We achieve high standards with qualified and committed employees.

• Humanitarian aid

Volkshilfe provides humanitarian aid at home and abroad. Internationally, Volkshilfe is represented and organized in the NGO network SOLIDAR, together with its sister organizations for disaster relief and international cooperation. The aim is to strengthen local structures by helping people to help themselves.

• Donate

With the help of donations and financial support from partners and sponsors, Volkshilfe can implement aid projects in Germany and abroad. Volkshilfe Solidarity – the donation organization of Volkshilfe – bears the Austrian seal of approval for donations and voluntarily submits to strict controls by independent auditors. Donations to Volkshilfe Solidarity are tax deductible.
